さきばしり【先走り】

～する act ahead of others; 〔不用意な先行〕 go ahead rashly [imprudently]; 〔早合点の行動〕 jump the gun; act on impulse.

●噂(_うわさ)だけが先走りした. Only rumors ran ahead.

・計画だけ先走りしたが実現しなかった. The planning went ahead, but nothing came of it.

●先走りで新製品に飛びつく jump at a new product on impulse.

●先走りはやめろ. Don't jump the gun. | Don't get ahead of yourself.

・あいつがいつも馬鹿を見るのは先走りだからだ. The reason he always fails is that he doesn't wait until the right moment [jumps the gun].
